Part Nine: The Bottom Drawer & Beyond

2017 - Today

Chad may have retired in 2016, but Jeremy decided he wasn’t finished with music...

After Chad’s retirement, Jeremy spent a year away from the states in a West End Musical entitled The Girls, but work continued apace on his solo album series. 

Jeremy’s The Bottom Drawer Sessions, No. 1 was issued on October 21st, 2014; a second bottom drawer album was released in early 2016, and a third the next year. 

But at the start of 2018, it was time for Jeremy to return to the concert stage. C&J tried a handful of shows with Peter Asher in a multi-media show featuring the story of the musical careers of both duos. With Chad retired, combining the two still-performing members of the two classic 60s duos was a natural step. 

Peter & Jeremy debuted at the 2018 NYC Fest For Beatles Fans, and aside from a 999 day interregnum during COVID, P&J have embarked on a number of tours in the states and Canada, and released a live CD featuring songs from their show. 

Jeremy also formed his ‘Bottom Drawer Band’ for smaller, intimate shows focusing on Jeremy’s ‘bottom drawer’ material and C&J hits, deep cuts, and favorites. Jeremy has been performing with his solo band since 2018. 

We lost Chad – our David Stuart Chadwick – on December 20th, 2020 when he contracted pneumonia during a hospital stay following a fall. His celebration of life was held in Hailey, ID on July 10th, 2021.

Post COVID, Jeremy was finally reunited with Peter in November/December 2022, and has resumed his occasional ‘Bottom Drawer Band’ solo shows. 

In the summer of 2024, Jeremy was back out on the road, but this time with a brand new duo show featuring guitar legend Albert Lee, a dream lineup for Jeremy. Sixty years later, with Jeremy rushing from town to town on tour, it was clear that the more things change, the more they stay the same. 

As for his life in the recording studio, Jeremy’s bottom drawer project was completed with The Bottom Drawer Sessions, No. 9. Never one to stop, he turned his sights to some favorite covers for an album entitled Classics, to come out in late 2025. For a sense of the scale of Jeremy’s recording accomplishment, here’s a stat to consider: Chad & Jeremy recorded eight albums during their classic 1960s period. Jeremy has released ten solo albums in the last decade.
